FNCCI hosting the 26th CACCI Conference in Kathmandu (July 29, 2012)

Some 300 of the leading businessmen and government officials from around the Asia-Pacific region are expected to gather in Kathmandu on October 3-5, 2012 for the 26th Annual Conference of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI). To be hosted and organized by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the 2012 CACCI Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Conference Theme

This year's gathering will focus on the theme "A Vision for Shared Prosperity". Eminent speakers have been invited to discuss how Asian governments can work together more closely to achieve sustainable economic development, as well as exchange views on why businessmen in the region need to rely more on each other to be able to sustain their growth and development. The Conference aims to provide a platform for CACCI members to share their ideas on how they can help their respective countries and the Asia-Pacific region as a whole - in strengthening and spreading the benefits of regional cooperation while playing a substantial, constructive role in global economic leadership.

Speakers from both the government and private sectors of Nepal will also attend the Conference to talk about the country's economic environment, trade and investment policies, FDI trends, investment incentives, cost structures, infrastructure and utilities, and prospects and challenges for the country's economic growth and development.

Breakout Sessions

This year's program has also been designed to make the Kathmandu gathering another occasion for CACCI members to discuss current business issues and explore possible areas of cooperation.

As in previous years, break-out sessions will be organized on sectors of interest to members, such as tourism, construction and contracting, food and agriculture, water and energy, SME development, young entrepreneurs; women entrepreneurs; and ICT. Each of the sessions will feature invited speakers and panelists who will share their views on trends and developments, problems and issues, and prospects for growth in the sectors concerned. There will also be discussions on activities that CACCI members can undertake to further strengthen business ties among themselves.

B2B Meetings

The FNCCI will arrange one-on-one business matching sessions between CACCI delegates and Nepalese representatives from various industry and services sectors to provide both sides a platform to explore possible opportunities for business, trade and investments.

MOU Signing

Interested member chambers will also have the opportunity to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with FNCCI and other CACCI members defining possible areas of cooperation. There will be time allocated for MOU signing during the two-day event.

With this year's gathering expected to bring together businessmen from the Asian region, the organizers of the event express their hopes that discussions will not only be of commercial interest to the participants, but will also be useful to the Confederation in its efforts to help shape policies that affect the Asia-Pacific region's development.

CACCI is a regional grouping of apex national chambers of commerce and industry, business associations and business enterprises in Asia and the Western Pacific. It is a non-governmental organization serving as a forum for promoting the vital role of businessmen in the region, increasing regional business interaction, and enhancing regional economic growth. Since its establishment in 1966, CACCI has grown into a network of national chambers of commerce from 27 Asia-Pacific countries, including the FNCCI. It cuts across national boundaries to link businessmen and promote economic growth throughout the region. CACCI is a non-governmental organization (NGO) granted consultative status under the United Nations.
