Nepal-China (Guangdong) Investment and Cooperation Seminar was jointly organized today by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong Sub-Council. The seminar was organized to promote investment, trade and tourism between Nepal and China. Finance Minister Honorable Shanker Prasad Koirala grace the seminar as the chief guest.
In the seminar the delegation from Nepalese side was led by Mr. Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, Senior Vice President of FNCCI. From the Chinese side, a 40 member Chinese business delegation was led by Mr. Liu Xiaojie, Vice Secretary-General of Guangdong Provincial Government. An MOU was signed between FNCCI and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong Subcouncil, during the seminar. Mr. Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar from FNCCI side and Mr. Qiu Zhaoxian, Vice President of CCPIT Guangdong Subcouncil from Chinese side signed the MOU.
In his welcome address to the seminar, Mr. Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar expressed the desire of a stable and peaceful Nepal, and hoped the new constituent assembly will complete the task of framing new constitution so that the economic and business sector can spearhead with economic growth of the country. Mr. Rajkarnikar urged Chinese investors present in the seminar to invest in various sectors in Nepal.
Addressing to the seminar Finance Minister Koirala, lauding the historical relationship between Nepal and China, informed that government of Nepal is in the process of concluding BIPPA and DTAA to protect foreign investment from China. Minister Koirala invited the Chinese investors to invest in priority sectors such as Hydropower, Infrastructure, tourism, mining, construction, commercialization of agriculture, and service sectors in Nepal.
Addressing to the seminar His Excellency Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai lauded the peaceful conclusion of recent Constitution Assembly election in Nepal. Ambassador Wu stated that the Nepalese and Chinese private sectors are vibrant communities and embassy is always happy to facilitate to encourage the bilateral economic relations.
In his remarks, Mr. Liu Xiaojie, Vice Secretary General of Guangdong Provincial Government of China, briefing about the economic development of Guandong, lauding the natural beauty and fertile land of Nepal, said that there is a huge potential of business cooperation between Guangdong and Nepal in various areas. He also expressed his readiness to discuss the feasibility of establishing a China Products Center in Nepal.
Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Coordinator of Investment Promotion Forum of FNCCI, gave a presentation on the Investment Opportunities in Nepal, and highlighted on the need for the establishment of Nepal-China joint venture bank.
The seminar was participated by high level government officials of Nepal, prominent businessmen from Nepal and investors, industrialists, Hoteliers and traders from China.
