A 21 days intensive Training on Energy Auditing has successfully concluded here today. 19 engineers representing the government, private and academic sector attended four course modules of the Bureau of energy efficiency (BEE) covering the practical oriented investment grade energy audit in industries and examination. The training was organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) in association with the National Productivity Council, India under the component “Energy Efficiency Market” of the Nepal Energy Efficiency Programme (NEEP). NEEP is a Nepali-German joint program implemented by the Ministry of Energy with technical assistance provided by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
In the training, regional and local energy experts have imparted theoretical and practical knowledge on energy auditing - a systematic study of all major energy consuming units, equipment and processes to identify gaps where energy efficiency measures could be introduced and energy losses could be minimized. Accordingly, after the training, the trained energy auditorswillbe able to provide energy audits to various energy consuming entities including industries, buildings, infrastructures and provide recommendation on energy efficiency measures that will not only support the entities to reduce the energy expenses but also contribute in reducing the current energy demand-supply gap.
The training courses on Energy Auditing organized by EEC are in line with four modules within the courseware of National Certification Examination for Energy Auditors developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), India along with practical field orientation. The modules include General Aspects of Energy Management & Energy Audit, Energy Efficiency in Thermal Utilities, Energy Efficiency in Electrical Utilities and Energy Performance Assessment of Equipment and Utility. Also, the course have built-in a practical walk through energy audit and an investment grade energy audit: Shree Textile at Patan Industrial Estate and Himalayan Snacks at Banepa were provided these audit services as a part of the practical session during the training.
EEC (Energy and Environment Division) is a central nodal agency under to enhance efficient energy use in the Nepalese industry and business sector. To facilitate the Nepalese industry and enterprises in adapting Energy Efficiency, EEC has the vision to develop national experts. Till now EEC has trained sixty four Energy Auditors in Nepal. Energy efficiency has been well identified to be a viable, cost effective alternative in comparison to capacity addition on the supply side, be it in the industry sector, or in any other sector of the economy.
